New Theme and 2.7

Posted on the January 28th, 2009 under ramblings, software by rayland

If you’ve been here before, you may have noticed a new theme gracing my blog. I upgraded to wordpress 2.7 a while back, and i wanted to use a theme that would make use of new features.

The theme of choice is… CryBook by ThemeTation. A few tweaks here and there and it’s all set. It is a very light theme since it doesn’t have any images. Saves bandwidth and reduces loading time! :D

There are a few glitches though, enabling the “Automatically close comments on articles older than XX days” in discussion options breaks the theme. The sidebar goes under the content rather than at the side where it should be.

CryBook also breaks the styling of the SyntaxHighlighter Plugin as demonstrated by one of my posts here. Using my old theme doesn’t do this.

I’m sure there is a fix to this… I just hope I have time to check it out…

wordpress 2.5 and a new look

Posted on the April 5th, 2008 under ramblings, techie by rayland

I have just upgraded to Wordpress 2.5.. or should I say I just “reformatted” my blog to 2.5. Instead of just upgrading my Wordpress installation, I thought why not just start from scratch? That way the database wouldn’t be filled with unnecessary entries from plugins I no longer use :D

Well, it wasn’t an easy task but I got it done! :P I used Wordpress’ export function to export the entries, pages and comments. Then I just imported it into the new installation, which at that time was installed in a subfolder. Hehe! After I finished installing everything, I moved the installation to the top level of my domain.

I also kind of got bored with my old template so I decided to use a different one. This time the template of choice is Blog Oh Blog V2.0. Just a few more tweaks to the template and everything will be all good!
