Hosting your own website

Everybody wants to be able to host their own website, as well as have a personalized domain. Problem is, not everyone can buy or afford such services. Of course there are sites that offer free blogs and even free hosting. But most just offer a subdomain and give very limited permissions. Some even force ads to show up on the site, which can be very unsightly.

Good news is, there are still sites that offer free domains and hosting which are at par with paid hosting. I have setup a site using these free services and so far so good. The site i set up is www.hablon.co.cc. It is a site that i had made for a project during my college days. The domain is free and provided by co.cc. The hosting is also free and provided by 000webhost.

With co.cc you:

  • can Register A Domain Name Free for life.
  • can Register to 2 free domain names. (a $10 can get you 100 more domains)
  • can Transfer ownership of you domain to another person.
  • have Full DNS control and domain management CO.CC provides free DNS and MX services.

on the other hand, 000webhost offers:

  • 1500 MB of Disk Space, 100 GB Bandwidth
  • Host your own domain (http://www.yourdomain.com) - this case you will be using the domain you registered with co.cc
  • cPanel Powered Hosting (you will love it)
  • Over 500 website templates ready to download
  • Easy to use website builder
  • Free POP3 Email Box with Webmail access
  • FTP and Web based File Manager

  • And many more….
