Godaddy EPP code

Transferring a domain from one registrar to another requires an EPP code. If you’ve ever tried to get the EPP code from Godaddy, you end up either Googling the solution or scratching your head in confusion.

Fear not! I will give you step by step instructions on how to get the EPP code from Godaddy.

first login to your godaddy account

choose the domain you want to get the EPP code from and click ‘advanced details’

look for ‘authorization code’ and click on the link that says ‘send by email’

a confirmation window will popup and then click OK. the EPP code will be sent to the email on file with the registrar

That’s it! Just check your email and you should now have the EPP code for your domain.

WUBI – Linux side-by-side with Windows.. The easy way

Installing a Linux distribution side-by-side with a Windows installation can be a hassle. You have to partition the drive, install trough boot, then wait for Linux to finish installing. Sometimes it will be successful, and sometimes you end up with a corrupted Windows boot record. Sucks doesn’t it?

It doesn’t have to be like that anymore! Wubi is the answer! What is Wubi?

Wubi is a Ubuntu installer for Windows users that will bring you into the Linux world with a single click. Wubi allows you to install and uninstall Ubuntu as any other application. If you heard about Linux and Ubuntu, if you wanted to try them but you were afraid, Wubi is for you.

You don’t need to modify your pc in any way. It’s just a simple installer, and installs as you would any other program. Plus it’s absolutely free! However, Hibernation is not supported under Wubi. Wubi’s filesystem is also more vulnerable to hardreboots (unplugging the power) than a normal filesystem, so you must try to avoid unplugging the power. These problems, however, are no longer present once the Ubuntu install created by Wubi has been transferred to a dedicated partition using LVPM.

wordpress 2.5 and a new look

I have just upgraded to WordPress 2.5.. or should I say I just “reformatted” my blog to 2.5. Instead of just upgrading my WordPress installation, I thought why not just start from scratch? That way the database wouldn’t be filled with unnecessary entries from plugins I no longer use

Well, it wasn’t an easy task but I got it done! I used WordPress’ export function to export the entries, pages and comments. Then I just imported it into the new installation, which at that time was installed in a subfolder. Hehe! After I finished installing everything, I moved the installation to the top level of my domain.

I also kind of got bored with my old template so I decided to use a different one. This time the template of choice is Blog Oh Blog V2.0. Just a few more tweaks to the template and everything will be all good!

meridiantelekoms.com defaced? are smartbro subscribers safe?

is it just me or has meridiantelekoms.com been defaced by some malicious type search engine? i am fond of using firefox’s address bar as my search bar. using it usually directs me to Google results or the site itself. it still works for multiple keyword queries, but i noticed when i use only one word, it redirects me to some search engine type page..

at first i freaked out since i thought i may have some spyware on my computer. i did complete scans with my zonealarm security suite, but found nothing.

i then had an idea. since it was loading pages like http://rayland/ i thought why not ping it? i did, and the result startled me. it was pinging rayland.meridiantelekoms.com . i had to look up the whois database on this. i used domaintools.com and searched for meridiantelekoms.com and 69.64.63.180. the thumbnail of meridiantelekoms sure is different from what the site looks now…

with all this said, i’m wondering is it safe for SmartBro subscribers to still be using the internet? as i recall, meridiantelekoms is the backend of the whole smartbro system. but for their site to be defaced like that? are they having issues with security? below are some screenshots.

i’m calling out to all smartbro subscribers out there.. are you also experiencing this?

how to restore regedit, taskmanager, ang msconfig using vbscript

have you ever been hit by a virus then finding out you could no longer access regedit, msconfig, or you task manager? well don’t worry, i will teach you how to restore them with a little visual basic script. now to get on with it..

first you have to open notepad or any text editor you prefer.

then copy and paste the following code into your text editor

after that save it and name it as restore.vbs

actually you could name it anything you like. taskrestore.vbs , msconfigrestore.vbs , etc. but you need to have .vbs at the end so that it will save as a vbscript file.

after saving, locate the file and double click it to execute.

a pop-up will show saying that the restore is complete. thats it. your regedit, msconfig, and task manager has been restored.

The mailman came by today and i got two packages.. First was the Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) CD’s that i had requested. To tell you honestly it was rather quick this time around. That is, compared to my previous request for the 6.06 version.. hehehehe! I kind of felt like taking pictures… So here are a few shots..

Oh, and my second package? Well it was my SSS id… I really look freaky in the picture so never mind that.. LOL! Better just stick with the Ubuntu for now…

smartbro… generous?

it seems to me that smartbro is being generous these days. i don’t really know why but my bandwidth speed is really high these past few days? and when i say high, i mean 1++mbps.. That’s more than twice as much as the advertised 384kbps.. maybe they just haven’t noticed it yet.. or maybe their fixing something? LOLZ! i don’t know, but i hope this stays for a while…

UPDATE: well, my smartbro connection is still on the high.. hahahaha! better spend my time downloading some precious programs… LOL!
