It’s more than just mini boats with artful sails on water; these sailboats are the stars for the yearly Paraw Regatta festival of Iloilo. The festival will commence this Sunday (yipee! more pictures!) February 17th. Wasn’t there a festival recently held here as well? Yep there was, but that was THE Dinagyang festival which is completely different from this one. What is this Paraw Regatta festival anyway? It’s basically a race of manually hulled sailboats in the strait between Iloilo and Guimaras Island. If you haven’t had the chance to witness sailboats do their own thing, then this festival is just what you need over the weekend.
Yesterday was the last day of the Dinagyang festival and also the day when ‘tribes’ perform in the Dinagyang street competition. Aple and I decided to go and just walk around. we didn’t get to see the performances since the stages were packed with so many people.
Anyways, we just took a clip of a tribe marching through the street. The tribe we caught just happened to be Tribu Silak of Molo City High. They used to be called Tribu Lunok when i was in high school. And they were probably the main rival of Tribu Bola-Bola of Iloilo National High School which was the tribe of the school i attended.
